A review of ‘DER from the Otherside’
Dec 11th, 2009 by pip

We had a fantastic day on Friday. Below are some links to Jigsaw Puzzles made from wordles, A slide showing some wordles made by students and phtos from our day and a wallwisher that student recorded some throughts on. I can’t wait to get some of the competitions we decided on started. Stay tuned for a DERvice Skin competition, and student based Help Desk and tips for Yr 9 2010, a mural competition and  a SRC Glogster competition.

Below is a ‘Slide’ showing some photos and wordles from out day.

Our Wallwisher made for the day. We asked the Questions – When did you get your laptops? Why do you like them? Which subject do you use them in the most?

Year 9 DER PMI feedback

You can see the positives, minuses and interesting things which our Year 9 students are telling us here

Students using a range of web 2.0 tools as listed in the posts below

eldoom1 Around forty students from Hunter Central Coast schools working with our SEO2 DER to investigate the use of a range of web 2.0 tools.

This is also a good opportunity for visiting teachers to interact and see the ways that the various tools and ideas can be used with students.

We understand that we are working with a switched on group, and look forward to seeing what they come up with.

Teachers are able to work in nearby rooms and yet keep up to date with what is going on via the links in the blog and, in some cases, via twitter and comments on blog posts from remote locations.

Teachers share the learning and reflections on DER from a number of different school perspectives.

Hunter Central Coast students talk about DER
Dec 8th, 2009 by Roger

This blog space has been set up to support the Hunter Central Coast DER day being held with students on Friday 11th December 2009.

We want to find out what our students think about the Digital Education Revolution and some of the applications and web spaces they are now able to utilise. It’s about ‘eldoom’ :  looking at Moodle from the other perspective.

Dec 8th, 2009 by pip

Please do not go to these websites until you are asked to. I know it is hard not to, but it will make it more fun if you wait. Thank you.

Wallwisher – A digital post-it note board – Enter your thoughts on DER on here

Storybird – Make a digital Picture book yourself – this links to an example I made for the day

Wordle – great for analysing text, and making colourful word banks

Glogster – digital poster making website

Jeopardy Labs – make your own jeopardy competition

PollDaddy – make polls and surveys to embed in your own websites

Jigsaw Planet – make a jigsaw puzzle out of any picture you have on your computer

Bubbl.us – the easiest way to make digital brainstorms

You can also see ideas for the ways that many of our schools are using COWs – Collaborative Online Workspaces to organise their teaching and learning by visiting the hccweb2 online environment

Today’s Presentation File
Dec 7th, 2009 by pip

Just in case you wanted to refer to this again, I have embedded today’s presentation below. I used the website called Prezi to change my Powerpoint (after I saved it as a PDF) into a cool non-linear presentation. You can learn how to use this free web 2.o tool by following the ‘learn’ tab.
